Call for submissions for the CINA Journal


The Yearbook provides an excellent forum for the presentation of articles. We are soliciting articles and encourage all nurses to share their knowlege and experience. The deadline for submission is June 30, 2001.

Johnson & Johnson offers an Editorial Award of $1,000.

The article must be original and previously unpublished.

The CINA journal, presently the only I.V. journal published in Canada, is available free of charge to members. The CINA Journal page contains subscription costs, abstracts from past issues and other pertinent information.Commencing in 1998 the CINA Journal was published annually.Subscription Rates: One year - Canadian ($42.80) U.S. ($53.50) Other ($58.85) Two year subscription Canada only ($75.60)

An Editorial Award of $1,000 has been established for original articles.

Guidelines for Authors

The CINA Journal is the official publication of the Canadian Intravenous Nurses Association and is published to promote education and communication among all persons involved in the field of intravenous therapy.How are articles chosen for publication?

All manuscripts will be acknowledged on receipt by the editorial committee. Criteria for publication includes originality, relevancy, reader appeal and controversiality.What makes a good article?

1. We welcome articles that promote improvement in clinical practice and research.

2. The author is knowledgeable and informed about the subject.

3. Controversy. What happens when an article is accepted? Editing involves validating factual content, adding new information, deleting extraneous material and revising to meet accepted grammatical, spelling and writing standards.

What about length? Most short articles are about 500-1000 words.

BE YOUR OWN FIRST EDITOR - condense where possible before submission.Would illustrations help? Photos, drawings and graphs catch the eye and add interest. Black and white glossy photographs are best. Colour slides and prints can be adapted.

About references. References and bibliographies must be complete if they are to be utilized as resources for further study by our readers. They must be submitted in an acceptable literary format.

How to submit your article. You will require two copies of your manuscript. These should be typed, double-spaced on standard white bond 8.5 X 11 inch paper. Mail one copy and keep one for your records. Send a covering letter containing a brief biographical sketch of yourself to:

Intravenous Therapy Guidelines
. The need for guidelines was met by the CINA through a request for assistance from Health Canada. Since that time, CINA has revised these guidelines. They are available free of charge to CINA members. The non member fee for the guidelines is $85.60.
